This includes collaborating with your team to transport and setup equipment at the collection sites in local communities, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for volunteer donors, and following all safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations that are delivered to hospitals.The Red Cross offers paid phlebotomy training with the ability to grow your healthcare skills and career within the nation's top humanitarian organization. Load and unload trucks and other vehicles.Take the time to personally connect with donors – listen to their stories and help them understand how impactful their donation is.Collaborate with your teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment so our volunteer donors feel comfortable coming back again and again.Be detail oriented all day, every day. This ensures that the blood you collect meets goals, regulatory requirements and can be safely transfused.You will work with the team to setup and tear down equipment at the donation sites.Standard Schedule: (Novi, Michigan)Variable ScheduleRotating WeekendsTo best meet the needs of our donors and community, staff work a variable schedule which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Overnight travel may be required in some locations.Schedule is provided two to three weeks in advancePay Information:Starting rate is $18.55/hour, increasing to $23.05/hour after one year of employment.This is a union positionWHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):High school diploma or equivalent is requiredCustomer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are requiredA current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.A Chauffeur's License is necessary for this position. If selected for an offer, you will be required to obtain a Chauffeur's License at the DMV, if you don't already have one. Please note, this requirement is not mandatory before applying and can be completed after an offer is made.Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes are required. Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to ensure the ability to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.At the American Red Cross, we conduct many mobile blood drives at businesses, schools and many other locations. All staff work as a team to setup and tear down the equipment required to conduct a mobile blood drive.Basic computer skills are required.
